A new-born baby requires immense care and attention from its parents. But organizations in India only allow mothers to avail their maternity leave of 3-6 months, as per the company’s policy. No organization in India had by far introduced paternity leave which allows men to take a break from their job and spend time with their newborn.
Zomato India has taken a step forward letting dads enjoy the initial days of their newborn to the fullest.
“For women across the globe (we have teams in 13 countries as we speak), we will be offering 26 weeks paid leave or will follow the government mandated policy, whichever is more. We will be offering exactly the same benefits to men as well. There won’t be even an iota of difference in parental leave policy for men and women at Zomato going forward,” Deepinder Goyal, Founder of Zomato wrote in his blog.
This also applies to non-birthing parents and in cases of surrogacy, adoption, and same-sex partners. Also, the new parents will be given a bonus of $1000 per child. These changes are applicable to even those Zomans who have had a child in the last 6 months. [3/n]

“This policy also applies to non-birthing parents, and in cases of surrogacy, adoption, and same-sex partners,” he added. Goyal also mentioned that the new parents will be given an endowment of $1000 (Rs. 70,000), per child, as they welcome their new baby to the world.
This commendable move by Zomato is garnering praise from Twitterati. Netizens can’t stop cheering Zomato for setting a new benchmark.

Awesome Deep! You have an opportunity to be the first one from India to be at a global level of employee friendliness. Many have got this opportunity in the past but have missed it. Good luck. #employeefirst #peoplefirst
