Worker Moves From Noida To Bengaluru For ₹30K Salary Hike But Regrets Within 4 Months

A salary hike is always tempting. If a company offers you a Rs 20,000 – Rs 30,000 raise, it seems like an obvious win. More money, better savings, a step ahead in your career – what’s not to love? But then, you pack your bags, move to a new city, and realize that a fatter paycheck comes with its own hidden costs. The unfamiliar roads, lifestyle changes, and daily struggles make you wonder – was it even worth it?

A corporate worker who moved from Noida to Bengaluru for a Rs 30,000 salary hike now deeply regrets the decision.

“Moved to Bangalore from Noida and I regret it,” the caption of his Reddit post read.

The user shared his disappointment, calling the city “dirty, not organised” with “bad roads” and the “worst traffic”. From overcrowding to poor water quality, the worker listed multiple reasons why they felt Noida was a better place to live and work.

“After completing my graduation I worked in Noida for more than a year and I really loved the city because of the city’s infrastructure and it’s diversity and many more. I planned to switch company looking at opportunities only in NCR at first but later I realized that I am losing many opportunities because of filtering the region. Later I shifted and moved to Bangalore four months ago for a 30k/month hike compared to my previous compensation,” the user wrote.

Just four months into living in Bengaluru, the worker started regretting his decision. He pointed out the cultural divide between North and South India, which, according to him, is visible in Bengaluru’s daily life. While Noida offered diversity and better infrastructure (ignoring pollution), Bengaluru felt overcrowded and chaotic.

“Now here in Bangalore, the city is dirty, not organised, had bad roads, worst traffic, bad water, less private space per individual and on top of all that the north vs south thing can be seen every day. Never in Noida I found dense populated places, Bangalore is completely opposite to that. I really regret moving out of Noida,” he added.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about the money. A new city brings a new lifestyle, and sometimes, even a Rs 30,000 hike isn’t enough to make up for bad roads, unbearable traffic, and a stressful daily routine.

Hence, one must ask themselves – is the move really worth it?
