Most people, after trying very hard the old-school way, turn to dating apps to find love or just to find someone they can have a good time with. So imagine their horror when they get scammed by the people they match on dating apps. We aren’t kidding. From Tinder to Bumble, incidents of dating app scams are rampantly increasing. However, only the smart ones are aware of it and can save themselves from getting scammed. Here’s an example.
A guy named Jay took to X to share a funny story where he ended up playing a reverse Uno and scammed the scammer. He met a girl named Yami on Tinder who asked him to get in touch via WhatsApp.
Over WhatsApp, she asked him for Rs 1,000 and said that she would return it to him within a couple of hours.
The guy deliberately made the payments fail, probably by entering the wrong UPI pin. He claimed that he was having some error and asked the girl to send him Rs 20 just to check if his GPay account was working or not. The girl sent him Rs 20, he received it, and then he blocked her.
And with that Rs 20, he bought a cigarette for himself!
