Every day, we get to meet people who work corporate jobs, even within our own families and friends. We see how they dedicate endless hours to work, leaving little to no room for their hobbies. Corporate jobs often demand professionals to dedicate 10-12 hours of their day to work. This includes time spent commuting. By the end of the day, these people do not have the energy left to spend time with their families or on activities that make them happy.

One woman’s post on X about the toll of modern work culture has struck a chord with many. She shared her exhaustion and lack of personal fulfilment, sparking widespread discussion about the balance between productivity and personal well-being on social media.
“Corporate is literally taking 12 hours of my time in a day including travelling and all I do is come home and sleep. This is scary because it looks productive but it’s like being a dead puppet with no hobbies or self-love,” she wrote.

Have a look:
it’s very weird kind of toxicity I’ve noticed in corporate. Even the people who had hobbies slowly sip into the cycle of corporate and lose touch with everything they resonated with. And, it’s addictive.

That’s true, that is why being financially independent is never actually about the money, it’s about freedom, freedom of one’s time.
Achievement of financial independence through just a job is a bit of a difficult task.— Sidharth (@sidharthmarwah) June 26, 2024
That’s where I am at. I come home so exhausted and without any energy to partake in my hobbies. Self care is just curling up in bed, at this point.

I feel so guilty about this fact, managing work+college leaves me with no energy to do anything else. I feel like I’m losing my whole personality.

It can sometimes be mind numbing stuff. You have to protect your mind with activities that you like and small steps like walking or being physically active.

Ugh, I hear you! That corporate grind can suck the life out of you. 😴 It’s important to find ways to reclaim your time and energy. You deserve to be alive, not just functional! 💖 💪

It’s so difficult to break out of this. Having very strong boundaries along with prioritisation and re-prioritisation helps ig

It’s time for companies to prioritize their employees’ mental health. A healthier work-life balance can lead to happier, more productive workers and a more sustainable work environment.
