In an age where minimalism and sustainable living are the hot new buzzwords, men have been quietly leading the way… without even realising it. Just take a look at a man’s wallet. It’s being held together by sheer willpower, memories, and maybe a strip of duct tape!
Speaking of which, a woman posted on X that she had bought her husband a brand new wallet five months ago, but he still hadn’t switched from his old, tattered one. The image she posted showed a shiny new wallet beside an ancient, battle-worn one. She asked men if they too are faithful to that one wallet they possess.
“I bought my husband a new wallet probably 5 months ago. He has no desire to switch over to it yet. The left is his current wallet. My dad has done the same thing. Men, is this a universal thing? Do you have a hard time giving up the old, faithful, falling apart wallet?” she wrote.

The post instantly struck a chord with men across the internet, who came forward in full force to defend their loyalty to their battle-worn wallets. Many admitted they simply couldn’t part with something that had served them faithfully for years, no matter how tattered it looked.
For them, it wasn’t about looks – it was about comfort, familiarity, and a system that just worked. Some explained how the old wallet had softened to perfection and fit their pocket like a glove, while others pointed out how switching meant disrupting a long-established organisation of cards, cash, and chaos.

It’s not just wallets. Men are loyal to the things that serve them well and make them comfortable. They think of them as old friends. I bought some LL Bean shorts in 2003 when I lived in Washington DC. Loved them and wore them constantly. So bought a few more. Moved to Croatia in…

The old wallet sofens up and becomes flexible ..easily fits in the pockets..corners get bent and doesn’t irritate while sitting..
it takes time.. to get comfortable with it in our back pockets..changing it to a new one is an ordeal.. 😅
Men would agree here!— OoltaChashma (@Mehtakyakehta29) April 24, 2025
I think for most men it comes down to utility.
Old wallet still works, no need to change.

Because we have a system! How to store things in the wallet. Everything is convenient after so many years. You have exact amount of space for exact amount of things. And you know where they are.
new wallet means, that I have to find a space for some things, need to make a new…

I’ve had my current wallet for 26 years. I accidentally put it through the washing machine last week. I freaked, even though I have a Coach wallet in my closet my brother gave me for Christmas years ago. I let the old wallet dry overnight and it’s fine. The Coach wallet…

Men do this with far more than wallets tbh, socks, pillows, men tend to use things until there is literally no way to continue lol

100% a thing. I bought a wallet from a street vendor when my wife and I went to Italy 13 years ago. It’s in rough shape. But I resist all attempts by folks — to include my boss — to try and talk me into getting a new one.

Absolutely. Once you have one broken in and fits all of your stuff just right, it has to be shredded before replacing. That’s the Man Code.

So maybe it’s time we acknowledge the quiet environmentalism that men practise. They don’t throw away until it’s absolutely necessary. They repair, reuse, and repeat – sometimes to hilarious extremes!
