In the entertainment industry, it is common for wealthy individuals, influential figures, and industry biggies to request special treatment, including private meetings with artists before or after performances. They often believe their money and status guarantee them VIP privileges. However, comedian and actor Vir Das has made it clear that this is not the case at his shows. According to Das, every audience member is treated equally, regardless of their background or influence.

In a recent post on social media, Vir Das addressed PR agencies with a firm message: “Being rich gets you zero special privileges at my show. Your client will pay the same price, stand in the same line, and witness the same show as every comedy fan there.”
This is an email he received from an agency which led him to share the post.
He revealed that he receives numerous emails before each show from people seeking special treatment for their clients. He noted that sometimes people even show up to the green room with managers, expecting special access based on their wealth.
Das wrote, “There’s unfortunately too many people to meet everyone, we believe everyone is equally important irrespective of where they sit, and hopefully the performance connects enough where we all go home happy. I thank your client for coming. I would imagine they’re quite busy and I’m honoured. I thought I’d post this because I get about five of these emails before each show. We even sometimes have people show up to the green room with managers telling us how important or successful their client is etc expecting to be let in. Thus, clarifications warranted.”
Vir Das concluded his message with a welcoming note to his audience, expressing hope that his performances would resonate equally with all attendees. “Cheers, and see you at the show,” he wrote.
