In a disturbing incident in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, two women were harassed by a group of men in cars late at night near the Sacred Heart School. The video, posted by Prachi Joshi on X, shows the women being intimidated by two cars full of men who tried to block their way repeatedly. The horrifying ordeal lasted for 25 minutes as the women, trapped in their vehicle, were subjected to abusive comments and dangerous manoeuvres from the harassers.
Prachi Joshi described how a black Mahindra Scorpio first forced their two-wheeler to slow down on Mukhani Road. Soon after, a Hyundai Nios i20 approached from the side, with two men perched precariously on the car doors, hurling abuses at the women.

straight for 25 minutes. The black Scorpio car (T0724UK4618C) was ahead of us and they tried to stop us from passing by opening their car doors and the white i20 Nios(UK04AK1928) was behind blocking us so we can’t run away from the situation. The first time it happened we escaped

The men in these vehicles attempted to block their path twice, opening car doors to prevent them from passing. It was only due to a passerby on a scooter that they managed to escape the second time.
the second time they blocked us completely by opening all car doors but luckily a man in Scooty appeared and he tried to pass them which gave us a chance to escape. We somehow managed to run from there but just after few minutes they again tried to do the sameo

Is this how peace and security is being maintained in the city? Why is hooliganism increasing in the city @uttarakhandcops that you’ll take a strict action against this matter because somehow this is related to safety and security of the women residing in Haldwani

Imagine what could have happened to someone not on a car or someone not as brave as these girls who held on to their sanity, especially in an age before mobile phones, cameras, and Twitter, when their ordeal might have gone unnoticed and unreported.

It’s unfortunate that some still feel the need to intimidate rather than respect Women have every right to move freely without fear Let’s stand together for their safety and dignity

Nainital police department could indeed increase night patrolling to enhance security. Regular patrols can deter crime, ensure public safety, and provide a sense of security for residents and tourists.@uttarakhandcops .

This incident exposes the glaring issue of women’s safety in India. Despite crimes against women making headlines every day, there is a severe lack of action taken to ensure their safety. Women continue to face harassment, violence, and assault in public and private spaces.
