In India, government jobs are often viewed as the holy grail. Fixed hours, guaranteed pensions, and lifelong job security – who wouldn’t want that? For many, it’s not just a preference, it’s a non-negotiable requirement. And that obsession can sometimes take dramatic turns, as seen in a wedding fiasco in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district.
The groom, an engineer from Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, was all set to marry his bride. The wedding procession arrived at the venue, and the ritual of Jaimala, the exchange of garlands, was completed late at night. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, but a revelation threw the entire event into chaos.
Just as the couple was about to move on to the next ceremony, the bride learned that her groom was not a government employee and that he had a private sector job instead. After learning this, she refused to go ahead with the wedding, reported News18.
The bride, who had been assured the groom was a government engineer, stood firm despite pleas from both families. The groom then showed his payslip to prove his credentials and income. When he handed over the document, it revealed a solid monthly salary of Rs 1,20,000. But it wasn’t enough reason for the bride to marry him.
After hours of back-and-forth and no change of heart, the families agreed to part ways. They decided to split the wedding expenses, and the groom’s side left without the bride.
A private sector job, no matter the paycheck, couldn’t compete with the promise of a government job’s stability and status!
