The Union Budget for 2021 is here folks. Presenting her third budget under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke about the higher spending on health amid the coronavirus pandemic. The budget commenced at 11 am today & is expected to provide relief to the middle class during these testing times.

While there is no change in income tax slabs but senior citizens above 75 years with only pension income have been exempted from filing ITR. Furthermore, HT quoted the FM saying, “I had mentioned about setting up of Higher Education Commission in last budget; we will introduce legislation this year. It will be an umbrella body having 4 separate vehicles for standard-setting, accreditation, regulation and funding.”
