Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has to be one of the most significant happenings of 2022. After news of him firing 4 top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal made headlines, it is only natural for other employees to feel nervous about losing their jobs as well.
According to Times Now, Twitter employees are now having to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week under Elon Musk in order to meet strict deadlines.

Employees have been asked by their managers to work extra hours to meet Elon’s deadlines. They have also been asked to justify their work, their team’s work, and the value they add to the company. Employees are now reportedly worried that if they fail to meet the standards, they might lose their jobs without a severance package.
There are also reports of employees sleeping in the office at night. A picture of one such employee also went viral on social media recently, reported India Today. This picture was shared by an employee named Evan Jones who works at the products department of Twitter. The person in the picture is his boss Esther Carwford who is seen sleeping on the office floor.

The strict deadlines were assigned to the staff just a few days after Elon Musk took over the company. However, this news has left several people online disappointed who called it “excessive” and “toxic”, questioning when do the employees get a break. Have a look:
Twitter staff are average, middle-class workers. They're being forced to work 12-hour days, 7 days a week, with no guarantee of overtime, time-in-lieu, or even job security from the excessive hours.
There is nothing funny about this. pic.twitter.com/VD1waqzK1h

The same pressure tactics do not work at every tech company. Twitter does not have the kind of culture where this can be easily enforced, which is I’m sure also the point. Easy way to boot people for noncompliance. https://t.co/8wTCD8cDl0

Elon Musk bought Twitter with no real idea of how to generate revenue. So now, he is making unilateral business decisions with arbitrary deadlines, which have resulted in employees working 12+ hour days and sleeping at the office. Great job, buddy.

Twitter running 12 hour shifts, 7 days. Employee jobs at risk.
Elon running Twitter like a South African, mining gold, apartheid blood running through his veins.

There is no reason, for any company, that you should have to work 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, unless that is YOUR choice.
I think that's an unhealthy choice, but that's me.
No manager should be requiring that. EVER.#Twitter #WorkLifeBalance— Ann S. (@WhizGidget) November 3, 2022
Elon Musk's new rule for twitter employees: work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week or get fired.
Like wtf, where's the break ?
