Flaunting one’s luxury purchases or vacations on social media is not a good idea because it can result in an income-tax raid or reveal sensitive information to pranksters and thieves. No prizes for guessing what happens when a thief himself shows off his loot online though.
According to CNN, 29-year-old Arlando Henderson worked in a Wells Fargo bank branch in North Carolina. On December 4, he was arrested by the FBI for stealing $88,000 (Rs.62 lakh) from the vault and charged with financial institution fraud, theft, embezzlement and misapplication, making false entries and money laundering.
Authorities collected evidence against him through his own social media handles where he uploaded pictures with a Mercedes-Benz, expensive clothes, diamond-encrusted watch and large stacks of cash.

USA Today quoted an official release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office saying,
“Henderson stole cash from deposits made by bank customers from the bank vault, and used the money to pay for personal expenses.”
Mail Online reports that he allegedly stole cash on at least 18 different occasions and cooked the books to hide the evidence. He also destroyed documents and got a car loan on falsified bank statements.

His next court hearing is scheduled tomorrow and he faces several years of imprisonment as well as penalties in the form of fines for each charge. Talk about digging one’s own grave.
