In recent years, we have been seeing a solid North India versus South India divide. Be it about culture, films or language, this divide seems to be growing as people keep debating about our ‘national langauge’ and our identity as Indians. In southern states like Bengaluru, North Indians, especially those who speak Hindi, are being harassed by autorickshaw drivers and locals. While in the North, South Indians are losing out on work opportunities. Here’s an example.
Details of a hiring notice were shared on Reddit’s r/IndianWorkplace subreddit. A company named Mounee Consulting Services in Noida, Uttar Pradesh is looking for a Data Analyst and right at the bottom of the entire requirements list, we see the words “South Indian candidates are not eligible for this position.”
Have a look at the Reddit post here:
South Indian candidates are not allowed. What bullshit!

Several people on Reddit thought that this was discriminatory towards South Indians because even if we consider the language divide, being fluent in a particular language is not a necessity for a Data Analyst.
