It is a fine Monday morning for many but looks like Sonu Nigam is having a heavy bout of Monday Blues and is caught in an irritated mood by Twitterati. Reason? He was woken up by azaan at a local mosque early in the morning.
In a series of tweets, Sonu’s tirade about “forced religiousness” is what many are waking up to.
Sonu began by citing how he has to be woken up by the ‘Azaan’ in the morning.

While stating a fact, he even took a chapter out of history to prove his point.

He pointed out the plights of atheists.

And, ended his rant by saying…

In no time, Tweeple huddled with their reactions. Some criticised him…
Dear Sonu Nigam u forget u started ur career doing jagrata all night. Where was gundagardi thn. If azaan shd stop thn jagrata shd also stop.

And called him intolerant.

She pointed out the “privilege” Sonu has.
Sonu Nigam is a classic example of Hindu Privilege. I dare see a Muslim Celebrity speak of the noise caused by Ganpati Celebrations.

But then, many came pouring in with support.
1 .Shahid‘s writer urged to ban it all.
Don't want to hear the Azaan at dawn, nor do I want to hear a Chikni Chameli tuned Ganesh Aarti at dusk. Ban ALL loudspeakering of religion. https://t.co/BVu1Nb6mKR

2. She urged all to read his timeline properly in another tweet.
I think what @sonunigam means is your religion stops where my nose/ears/space begins.

3. P.S. This guy was just criticising him one tweet ago.
Valid point Sonu Nigam. Let's unite and stop both azaan and jagrata. Bcz both create noise pollution.
— G.MISHRA (@Satyameva_J) April 17, 2017
4. This guy chimed in with Sonu.

5. We need to fact-check that one, shouldn’t we.
Sonu Nigam has said very right. This was also said by Kabirdas And this is a Islamic noise which is wrong.?
— Anurag chaturvedi (@anuragchturvedi) April 17, 2017
6. And, this valid point.
Sonu Nigam has raised his voice against the raised voice. Now liberals will defend saying 'that's their choice'.
— Maverick (@iAstroNOT) April 17, 2017
Oh, one even derived fun out of it.
7. Like this one,

8. If you’ve been following the news of Snapchat-Snapdeal, you’ll know.
Thanks to Sonu Nigam, atleast Snapchat ratings won't fall anymore.

9. And, this one just took the case.
Me: Ye 4 bank transactions ke baad charges kyun laga rahe hain?

10. On a side note, this is what Mr Agnihotri had to say.
I am willing to sponsor a campaign against illegal blaring of Azaan and other prayers on loudspeakers. Suggest a creative hashtag.
