“I’m Taking This Battle Head On.” Sonali Bendre Reveals She Has Been Diagnosed With Cancer

Life works in mysterious ways. Personally speaking, I feel it is very reminiscent of a game. One where we are the pawns of an unseen gamemaster, pulling the strings. One moment, you’re winning with all the riches in the world and the next, you face your next challenge that threatens everything you’ve achieved till now. And if you were to check the pulse of this game that we call life, you’d notice a rise and fall pattern. The ups and downs, so to speak.

And when the curveball that threatens to shatter everything you’ve achieved and hold dear, comes your way, you have two choices. Drop the bat and bow out, or fight back and hit it out of the park.

Actress Sonali Bendre has decided to choose the second path.

The former model, revealed today that she has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer. Sharing the news on her social media channel, she writes:

“Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming.”

She reveals that she was diagnosed when she got a few tests done following a niggling pain. Sonali also expresses her gratitude and love towards her family and close friends who have rallied around her during this trying time.

“They are the best support system that anyone can ask for,” she says, adding that she feels very blessed to have them.

As for the disease, she intends to fight it every step of the way. She says:

“There is no better way to tackle this than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful.”

 

She ends her post with the promise to take this battle head-on, with the strength of her family and friends behind her.
