Life is crazy fast in the ‘City of Dreams’. People are constantly struggling to make ends meet. It’s a city with a strange combination of hope and hopelessness. But amidst all the hustle and bustle, there’s a young boy who is an inspiration and can teach us several life lessons.
Yesterday, a surprise awaited the early morning passengers who were travelling from Victoria Terminus to Bhandup.
Dressed in a simple tracksuit, Amitabh Bachchan was spotted singing ‘Rang Barse’ and interacting with passengers in the same compartment as Saurabh Nimbkar.
But who is Saurabh Nimbkar? Here’s his story:
23-year-old Saurabh Nimbkar is a B.Sc. in Biotech and M. Sc. in Bioanalytical science student. He has been singing and strumming his guitar with all his heart, day after day on the local trains of Mumbai, from Ambernath to Dadar and then travelling back to Dombivali. He uses his talent to collect donations for cancer patients. And the money he collects from the passengers goes to a small NGO in Thane.
Why is this Dombivali resident serving the society at the initial stage of his career?
In 2013, when his mother was living her last few months, fighting a losing battle to cancer, he used to carry his guitar to the hospital. While playing the guitar, the mood of the patients undergoing long and extensive treatment lifted up.
Unfortunately, he lost his mother in 2014. But, the thought of doing something for the people suffering from cancer remained in his heart.
Life has to go on.
After his mother’s death, Saurabh found a job in the quality control department of a pharmaceutical company. But he wanted to impact the society.
So, he decided to beg in local trains with a guitar.
His reasoning was simple:
Everywhere else, people are too busy to pay heed to his message. But in the trains, they don’t do anything productive. A fan of Indian Ocean, Saurabh hands over Rs.5,000 to Rs.6,000 to Bright Future Association, an NGO, every two or three weeks.
After Amitabh Bachchan travelled in the local train with him, #BigBAurHeroKaSafar started trending on Twitter.

You don’t have to be Kailash Satyarthi or Bill Gates to bring about a change or to do something revolutionary. If you really want to make a change, all you need is true determination.
Don’t let money be everything and end all your existence, because there will always be someone richer than you. 🙂
