Recently, Sandeep Reddy Vanga appeared for an interview and spoke about his latest release ‘Animal’ and the backlash that it has been facing for allegedly glorifying misogyny, violence and assault towards women. In the interview, he took a direct dig at popular film critics Anupama Chopra, Rajeev Masand and Sucharita Tyagi after they gave a negative review of his film. He called them ‘illiterate’ and ‘uneducated’, people who do not understand filmmaking and a filmmaker’s craft.
“Nobody speaks about the craft, the editing, sound design, because they are literally illiterate, uneducated when it comes to films. They have no sense of how to criticise the film or review the film,” he said in the interview.
An insecure man calling educated and well-read critics as illiterate

As a result of his statement, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has been facing immense backlash on social media. People called him out for complaining despite his film being a commercial success. Some also called his misogyny out after he addressed Sucharita Tyagi as “that Tyagi girl”.
Here’s what some of them have been saying:
800+ crores at the box office and he’s still crying because some critics didn’t like his film. https://t.co/HY6TFM7KyV

"The Tyagi girl" – believe men when they show their misogyny. He means @Su4ita but I will have my guard up if a man calls a grown woman "girl", apart from of course being so pitifully insecure as to attack people who are literally doing their jobs. https://t.co/wrwLRg8n5S

It's clear how much Sucharita visibly rattles him. He can't even utter her name. Tries to dismiss her with a throwaway "that Tyagi girl"
Vanga is a weak pathetic little man ?? https://t.co/PtNp9izDxQ

‘My film got big BO opening because of the craft’ if audiences come for the craft, directors like Manikandan and TK’s films will open to bigger numbers than Atlee’s films. It’s always about the director knowing what a regular Indian nale wants to see on the big screen. https://t.co/MTTwY9GNFk

At least this puts to rest the “whether the Animal film Twitter account really represents the filmmaker” debate.
Very childish and insecure to hold out for universal admiration despite having a hit film. https://t.co/IX8wkzzaV1

filmmaking isn't just technical shit
it's storytelling. if your story sucks, then the technical shit doesn't matter. you can have the most beautiful shots but it isn't worth a dime if you can't tell a story right. https://t.co/F4Xj1kLBmf— myth.of.sissypuss ? (@mythofsissypuss) December 20, 2023
this man is obsessed with getting talented critics to like his work???
anyway, we should question those who continue working with him after these stunts & question if *they* respect the craft because he doesn't seem to, or else his reactions wouldn't be this heated. https://t.co/CMT35eINLy

Do you think the backlash is justified?
