We’ve all grown up learning ‘Newton’s laws of motion’, ‘Einstein’s theory of relativity’ and many such basic scientific theories. Remember the popular story about Newton and apple? Of course!

Well, looks like, our Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal doesn’t!
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently made an announcement on the auto sector slowdown that the country is facing currently and blamed ‘millennial mentality’ for it. She was subsequently trolled on Twitter by sarcastic millennials.
When asked about how India will rise to become a $5-trillion economy at the current rate, Goyal defended the percentage at which our country is growing at and said, “Don’t get into the calculations that you see on television.”

“If you look at a $5 trillion economy, the country will have to grow at 12%, today it’s growing at 6%-7%, don’t get into those maths,” he is seen saying in the video which is now going viral on social media.
He continued to speak and made a major goof-up as he said,
“Maths never helped Einstein discover gravity.”

Desi Twitter quickly jumped in and schooled Goyal about the basics of science and reminded him that discovery of gravity had nothing to do with Einstein in ways as hilarious and sarcastic as possible!
Mr Goyal, FYI 1. Einstein didn't discover gravity.
2. Newton did.
3. Gravity was discovered based on Mathematical work of laws of motion, not falling apple. #Einstein #Economyslowdown https://t.co/Ew36CNQ9IE

#Einstein is trending higher than #Newton 🙁 #gravity

Mr @PiyushGoyal – I don't think you have ever studied science but being an Engineer I feel it is my moral duty to correct you
– Einstein didn't discover Gravity, Newton did.
Get your basics right Mr Goyal, that would help even in the Economy. pic.twitter.com/OPEZRjB4op

Finance Minister in-waiting says “Einstein discovered gravity”. Mind you – NOT Newton.
Then he says he did so without math.
He’s wrong.
In fact, Modi ji was the one who discovered gravity when he found the extra 2ab in a+b square.

If Einstein discovered gravity, what did Newton do? ??????

Why should Nirmala have all the fun? Piyush Goyal has just delivered a blockbuster dialogue
"Don't get into calculations about the economy. Don't get into maths. Maths never helped Einstein discover Gravity" ?
Millennials and Maths are the problem. Not Modi Govt. Understood? pic.twitter.com/JCoCIbdoxp

But Goyal isn’t alone here. And Twitter isn’t the only place where gravity, Newton and Einstein are trending. A lot of Indians took to google to confirm ‘who discovered gravity?’ Have a look:

For those who don’t know, Newton discovered gravity (thanks to the apple that fell on his head years ago).
