Pune Techie Leaves Infosys Job Without Another Job Offer In Hand, Shares 6 Reasons Why

Most people wouldn’t dream of quitting their job without having another offer in hand. It’s the safety net we’ve all been taught to value – a backup plan that ensures financial security and a smooth transition. But sometimes, the circumstances at work become so intolerable that even this well-worn rulebook goes out the window.

A professional named Bhupendra Vishwakarma from Pune quit his job at Infosys without having another offer lined up. As the sole breadwinner of his family, walking away from a secure paycheck was not an easy decision to make, but he made that decision anyway.

In a LinkedIn post, the Pune-based techie shared the struggles that led to his resignation. Despite being promoted from System Engineer to Senior System Engineer at Infosys, Bhupendra didn’t see a single rupee added to his paycheck. Imagine working hard for three years, meeting all expectations, and earning a promotion, only to find out it’s just a title change – no financial growth, no real reward. That’s exactly what happened to him.

Things got worse when his team, originally 50 people strong, was cut down to just 30. Instead of hiring replacements or even acknowledging the increased workload, the management dumped all the extra work on those who stayed. The result? Stress, burnout, and zero appreciation.

To make matters worse, the account that Bhupendra was working on was a loss-making one. Even his manager openly admitted to this. Being stuck in a loss-making project meant stagnant career growth and minimal chances for a salary hike. It was like being trapped in a dead-end job with no exit sign in sight.

Then there was the client pressure. Unrealistic demands and constant escalations created a toxic environment where employees were always on edge. Bhupendra described it as “firefighting” every single day, with no time to breathe.

Even the small wins didn’t feel like wins. Despite receiving recognition from colleagues and seniors, none of it translated into real rewards. Hard work was simply expected and taken for granted.

And if all this wasn’t enough, there was regional bias when it came to onsite opportunities. Bhupendra noticed that roles were often given to employees who spoke Telugu, Tamil, or Malayalam, while Hindi-speaking employees like him were overlooked, no matter how well they performed. This blatant favouritism was the final straw.
