Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister to make a trip to the Silicon Valley in last three decades. He has exciting plans for Silicon Valley to venture in and we couldn’t be more excited.
There are many plans in progress which will put India on a pedestal if they work out well. The ‘Digital India’ campaign may finally become a reality in all terms if the big names in Silicon Valley are onboard with the plans.
The PM met with world’s top tech chiefs today including Indian-born Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. In a massive event organised at the Silicon Valley with 350 top business leaders, Narendra Modi shared his plans for ‘Digital India’.
1. A custom-built red nylon carpet which was 5 feet wide and 30 feet long was specially built with specifications from the US state government and rolled out for Narendra Modi at the Silicon Valley airport.

2. He first had a terrific meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook who revisited Apple’s old ties with India saying that Steve Jobs went to India for inspiration.

3. PM Modi also toured Tesla Motors and met CEO Elon Musk. He was given a tour of the battery operated car and shown remarkable inventions on renewable energy made by the company.

4. He started the meet with a positive speech which was well lit with humour. He was appreciated with a standing ovation. In his speech he said, “Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, they are the new neighbourhoods of our new world. The most fundamental debate for our youth is the choice between Android, iOS or Windows.”

5. He won people’s heart by saying, “California might be among the last places on the globe to see the sun set, but it is here that many great ideas see the first light of the day.”

6. Satya Nadella while outlining Microsoft’s plans with India said, “Now it is time for us to collectively empower people from all over the world.”

7. Sundar Pichai acknowledged India as the fastest growing nation in terms of start-up culture and said, “PM Modi understands that technology is an enabler for massive change, the kind that India needs right now.”

8. Cisco CEO John Chambers showed his trust in PM Modi and said, “We believe you will change the world and change India.”

9. QualComm chairman Paul Jacobs showed immense interest in the Indian market and announced that they will be investing $150 million funds to garner Indian start-ups and to foster a ‘Design in India’ initiative to for local product designing.

10. The Facebook team is very excited for Modi’s visit and they have adopted a formal dress code for the day. Men are advised to wear suits and women to wear formal dresses. Their usual hoodie, shorts and t-shirts have been given a break for the special occasion.

11. Planned in PM’s itinerary is his interaction with the Indian community at the SAP Centre in San Jose. The Indian community who welcomed Modi with unprecedented energy is all set for his session. Nearly 18,000 people are expected to attend the session.

12. Before starting his power filled meeting with Silicon Valley, Modi held a summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. They G4 nations discussed backing each other’s bid for a long-awaited permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.
