Recently, Surf Excel came up with a colourful advertisement promoting religious harmony. A Hindu girl is seen taking all the water balloon shots at herself till they run out to help a Muslim friend go for namaaz in a clean white kurta-pyjama without getting hit with colours.
But very soon, the ad started receiving a lot of backlash after the internet was left divided over the message and #BoycottSurfExcel started surfacing on social media feeds.

However, quite hilariously, another brand which shares half of Surf Excel’s name started receiving a lot of negativity too!
Microsoft Excel, having no fault of their own, but just by virtue of its name, started to get slammed by people.
Many people confused Microsoft Excel for Surf Excel and started slamming it for the ad and posted negative reviews on Google Play because, why not!

A similar case had happened a few years back when people mistook Snapdeal for Snapchat after the latter’s CEO commented something stupid about Indians.
