Narayana Murthy, the legendary founder of Infosys, has reportedly added another jewel to his real estate crown – a Rs 50 crore luxury apartment in Bengaluru’s ultra-posh Kingfisher Towers. This swanky 8,400-square-foot unit on the 16th floor comes with four bedrooms and five dedicated car parking spaces. According to a report by TOI, the price per square foot of this property is a staggering Rs 59,500, making it one of the most expensive apartments in Bengaluru.

While Narayana Murthy is settling into his lavish new pad, complete with views of the city’s skyline and probably more square footage than most people could dream of, let’s not forget his recent advice to India’s youth – work 70 hours a week to boost the nation’s economy. Because apparently, who needs sleep or work-life balance when you can aspire to…um, someday maybe buy a 1BHK in the same city?
People couldn’t get enough of the dark humour behind this news. Some are even anticipating more hours of work to compensate for Murthy’s apartment. Sudha Murty ma’am, on the other hand, not so ‘simple’ after all.

Infosys, the company he founded, is famously known for its entry-level salaries starting at around Rs 3 LPA – a sum that, in today’s economy, might get you a month’s rent in UB City if you skip eating. Oh, and while Murthy’s new apartment made headlines, his company was recently in the spotlight for allegedly receiving a Rs 32,400 crore tax evasion notice.
There’s a different set of rules for those at the top.
