Amidst professional triumphs and financial victories, people tend to lose out on simplicity and humility. Picture this: a successful individual, not flaunting their wealth, but radiating authenticity and being proud of their roots. It is such a wonderful thing to witness. And Narayana Murthy is one such individual who, despite being the founder of Infosys, has stuck to his roots and is known to live a very simple life.
Recently, Narayana Murthy was spotted with his daughter, Akshata Murty, who also happens to be the First Lady of the UK and wife of the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, having ice cream at an ice cream parlour in Bengaluru. They went to Corner House, a very popular ice cream parlour chain in the city.
While Akshata Murty was seen wearing a pair of pyjamas and a t-shirt, Narayana Murthy was wearing a shirt and a veshti. The two, like an adorable father-daughter duo, quietly entered the ice cream parlour, picked up their favourite dessert, sat together and relished it.
This incident was shared by Meghna Girish on X who wrote, “Place was packed…. they came quietly and bought their ice creams….. fortunately the staff recognised them and got them chairs…. they were gracious with being clicked.”

Several people online lauded the simplicity of the Murthys and hoped that it would serve as an example for the rest of our society. Here’s how some of them reacted:
Billionaire clad in veshti having ice cream at a place most people can afford. With his daughter who happens to be married to the UK PM.

Simplicity makes one a good human being. People with money and power often feel that they need to be in the limelight and that they need to be protected all the time.
Such occurrences are rare. You should always be grounded and kind, rather than being arrogant and egotistical. https://t.co/lLmrailJX1— NIHARIKA DASH SARANGI (@NiharikaDash14) February 13, 2024
In an era where even a local corporator or SM influencer makes so much show, the first lady of Britain being so simple and casual is a lesson for everyone. https://t.co/WPetU1zDBs

So much to learn from them ?
While people are busy in unnecessary showing off everywhere, such simplicity is rare to be found in today's world ? https://t.co/5VSg09ksxY— Chaitali Mukherjee ?? (@IamChaitali321) February 12, 2024
That’s one decent and humble family, ordinary middle class Kannada ethos. Even the intern who applies to Infosys today shows hundred times more attitude than the founder and his family?♀️

He comes to our alumni association. It is almost always that he is recognized half way through the proceedings in the crowd.
Phenomenally humble. Straight talker.
