Withdrawing cash from ATM is a pretty simple process. You just need your ATM card and the correct pin to withdraw money from your account. But as they say, “Technology isn’t flawless”, sometimes ATMs fail too.
One of the common faults of an ATM is that sometimes it does not dispense cash but the amount gets deducted from a cardholder’s account.

Recently, in a bizarre turn of events when Chartered Accountant, Rafiqua Mahadiwala visited an ATM in Andheri East, Mumbai, to withdraw cash. As the process goes, Mahadiwala put her ATM card in the slot but the machine began to make some noise. So she quickly removed her card and moved to another machine in the same kiosk.
Soon she saw cash worth Rs 96000 in 500 rupee denominations spilling out from the machine
“I quickly removed the card and was checking another machine in the same kiosk, when the currency notes spilled out,” she told Deccan Herald.
She quickly checked if the amount was deducted from her account but it wasn’t. She handed over all the cash to the security guard. After a little investigation, the guard told Mahadiwala that a person was trying to make the transaction from the same machine earlier when it failed.

“I tried calling the customer care number but there was no quick option to report such incidents. There were no emergency contact numbers available at the ATM,” she explained.
She then wrote a mail to the bank authorities describing the incident in detail.
Moreover, every bank has a limit of cash withdrawal from an ATM that usually ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.
