2018 Commonwealth Games had a brilliant start and now India won its first gold medal. Mirabai Chanu made us swell with pride by securing the first position in weightlifting at Gold Coast on Thursday.

Chanu, who is in the women’s 48 Kg category, broke her own record and set a new Commonwealth record by lifting 196 Kg. The previous record was held by Augustine Nwaokolo of Nigeria in 2010 for 175 Kg.

Chanu already has her eyes on the next games and she’s excited about it too. According to Hindustan Times, she said,
“I want to do well in the Asian Games and win a gold medal there next.”
We pray that you achieve gold in Asian Games too, Mirabai. But for now, we’re going to revel in your glorious victory and celebrate you bringing home the gold. Humari choriyan choro se bilkul kam nahi.
