Captain Anshuman Singh’s wife, Smriti Singh, was battling tears on her way to receive the prestigious Kirti Chakra on behalf of her late husband who lost his life trying to save the lives of others. Captain Singh was an Indian Army Medical Officer, stationed at Siachen. He was serving the 26 Punjab Regiment.

As pictures and videos of the sad yet respectful moment from the ceremony went viral, vile men took over the comments section to post derogatory, sleazy and downright disrespectful comments about Smriti Singh. A martyr’s widow being subjected to such vulgarity online is nothing but shameful.
This particular comment has left several people enraged who have been demanding strict action against the individual.
Other such comments followed.
From YouTube to Facebook, such comments can be found everywhere.
Several people shared screenshots of these comments and circulated them on social media. They condemned the comments and tagged the National Commission for Women, asking them to take strict action.

The NCW was swift in taking action against these social media users. One was booked under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (publishing sexually explicit content in electronic form).
National Commission for Women (NCW) has identified a lewd and derogatory comment made by Ahmad K. from Delhi on a photo of a Kirt Chakra Captain Anshuman Singh’s widow. This act violates Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the Information Technology… pic.twitter.com/h2zvqfKGgy
