A retired army soldier was assaulted by his in-laws following a dispute at a wedding in Mojahidpur. The dispute occurred during a wedding ceremony where Roshan Ranjan’s wife was seen dancing with other men to inappropriate songs. Ranjan, disturbed by the sight, intervened to stop the dance and the DJ, which led to a confrontation with his wife, reported News18.
Upset by her husband’s actions, the wife reported the incident to her father and brother. According to Roshan Ranjan, upon returning home, his father-in-law and brother-in-law locked him in a room and severely physically assaulted him.
“My wife was dancing with another man to vulgar songs. I questioned her about it, leading to an argument. When I got home, my father-in-law and brother-in-law locked me in a room and beat me badly. When my son tried to help, he was also beaten. They snatched my phone when I tried to call 112, and even let the air out of my car tyres to prevent me from going to the police station. Despite being injured, I managed to reach the Mojahidpur police station, where I was sent to the hospital,” he said.
The incident has left the family in distress, particularly as Roshan’s son was also harmed during the altercation. City Superintendent of Police, Mr. Raj, confirmed the incident and stated that no written complaint had been filed yet.
“We are aware of the situation and will take appropriate action once a formal complaint is received,” he assured.
