For nearly a decade, Nischa Shah was working as an investment banker in London. She climbed the corporate ladder and ended up becoming an associate director at Crédit Agricole in 2022. She earned a salary of nearly Rs 2 crore a year. However, she didn’t find her job fulfilling and mentally stimulating. She realized that at the end of the day, she was helping large corporations and sovereign governments. What she really wanted was to use her knowledge to help people manage their personal finances.
So, she decided to quit her job and start a YouTube channel where she educated people on personal finance and promoted self-development.

Before making this decision, she asked herself what she would do for a living if money wasn’t an issue. The answer was simple – make complex information accessible to everyone.
She started her YouTube channel in December 2021. At first, the channel was just a side hustle. She made videos on passive income ideas, habits that are keeping a person poor, investing, etc. She consistently posted videos twice a week, every week. It took her 11 months to get her first 1,000 subscribers. But there was this one time when she posted a video showing a day in her life as an investment banker. It was this video that hit the target. She gained 50,000 subscribers in one month.

Eventually, she left her job to focus on her channel full-time. She left her job at a time when she had a 6-figure bonus due, but she took the risk anyway. And it was all worth it!
Her channel now has over a million subscribers. She earns nearly Rs 8 crore a year by monetizing her YouTube videos, selling courses and products, doing corporate talks, and partnering with brands. Most of her audience includes young adults, women and people who may not have had access to financial education.

“I’m making a lot more than I was in banking. As a result of not chasing money anymore and just chasing what I’m good at, my passion, and what I really enjoy, it’s managed to surpass everything that I had before,” CNBC quoted her saying.
Kudos to Nischa Shah for listening to her heart and following her true passion!
