We need to face the truth: Indian tourists, in general, do not have a good reputation when it comes to travelling abroad. Foreigners complain that we lack civic sense, we are loud and we are dirty. With so many incidents of Indians’ unruly behavior in public making headlines almost on the daily, our heads should hang in shame. A drastic change in behavior is long overdue.
We say this because a group of Indian guys were filmed urinating on Pattaya beach in Thailand in public, reported TOI. A local Thai resident secretly recorded the act during a busy evening and the video soon went viral on social media.

This incident angered so many Indians online who highlighted that incidents like these will continue to occur if uncles and aunties of our society are more concerned about public urination than public display of affection. Despite being known for their ‘sanskars’ and cultural values, Indians often fail to follow basic civic sense.

Respecting public spaces should be common sense, but sadly, for some, it isn’t. The fact that this happened in Pattaya, Thailand, a country that welcomes millions of Indian tourists every year makes it even worse. It’s high time we do better.
