Nowadays, when people are looking for jobs, they are placing utmost importance on the environment of the workplace. The moment they get a whiff that the workplace is toxic, the seniors are abusive and the work policies are corruptive, they rule out the option of working in such an organization. The awareness of toxic work culture is massive now and abusive companies are called out on social media every now and then.
Speaking of which, a video of a senior executive working in HDFC, Kolkata, went viral on social media wherein he can be seen abusing and shouting at the employees working under him in the bank.
The man has been identified as Senior Vice President Pushpal Roy, reported Business Today. He screams at the junior executives for not meeting targets and even hurls abuses at some of them. He pressurizes them to sell 75 policies a day.
Here’s a look at the video:

Confirmed from a friend who understands Bengali, he is asking his junior to sell 75 insurance policies in a day?
Is this why these bank employees missell us policies and investment products? pic.twitter.com/SGNabDZinR

Yes I saw it and did not know how to react even. This is Indian banking for you. Investors are the only hope as this is beyond the regulator’s ambit. The lies and the misselling has reached epic proportions. One lady in a pvt bank came to my locker and grabbed me and cried for…

I have worked with a so-called MNC NBFC, where I have heard similar calls with sales teams to improve their loan disbursements. Thankfully never had to face this myself.

Wow! This gave me goosebumps. It’s almost like that VP is possessed.
Have witnessed this (milder versions, but with gaalis) personally in some sales companies.
It reflects that not only the buyer but the bank employee is a victim of these number targets.

I am an Ex Employee worked in 2005-2006. Similar culture existed back then as well. They call it character building. We used to have brain freeze after such review sessions.

You are absolutely right about the fact, that such practices promotes force selling of monetary policies to customers. This needs to stop asap @HDFC_Bank

“This bears reference to a recent social media report. Basis a preliminary enquiry in the matter, the concerned employee has been suspended and a detailed investigation has been initiated which will be undertaken as per Conduct guidelines of the Bank,” the statement read.
It was shocking to see how these employees were treated by their senior!
