Work can be really fun for those who love their offices and have made excellent friends out of colleagues. You see, once we grow up, work tends to become our primary focus and the office becomes a place we spend most of our time at. Soon you’ll find yourself sharing deep thoughts with your colleagues, celebrating birthdays, going out for meals, exchanging gifts, and what not. However, beware of the weird people. This is one reason why:
A woman was demanded by a not-so-close colleague to bake her a free birthday cake. When the woman said no, the colleague threatened her saying that she would complain to the HR!
It all started when the woman (unnamed) baked a birthday cake for a close co-worker in her team. Her team usually pitches in the amount for a cake or a gift when there’s a special occasion. When news spread at her office, a colleague from a different team messaged her wanting a free cake. Things got a little weird when the colleague started making ridiculous demands.
The woman took on Reddit to post a screenshot of their conversation on the subreddit ‘ChoosingBeggars’ under the title “Bake me a cake or I’ll tell HR on you”. Have a look:
I had some pretty annoying friends who wanted free treats all the time but calling this annoying or weird would be an understatement!
It wasn’t long before Redditors stepped up and replied in support of the woman. The said how ridiculous it was to not just ask for a free cake from a colleague they barely know but also complain to the HR for a cake! But some gave pretty cool suggestions to deal with the situation:
There’s a high chance the HR wouldn’t bat an eye.
My point exactly – “what the hell is wrong with people?”
We all have birthdays. You aren’t special.
Maybe the colleague was just a spoilt brat whose family celebrated the entire birthday week.
That’s a pretty wicked idea!
This one’s even better!
There! All problems solved!
Love for freebies reached a whole new level here, people!
