We live in a world where overworking has almost become a badge of honour. Sleeping at the office, pulling all-nighters, and sacrificing personal time are often framed as signs of dedication instead of unhealthy practices. In many industries, this hustle culture is celebrated, while the real toll it takes on people, physically and mentally, gets brushed aside.
With Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale set to kick off on September 23, 2025, the e-commerce giant has already dived deep into preparations. A video recently shared on Instagram by a Flipkart employee gave people a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of India’s biggest online shopping festival.

In the clip, a truck is seen delivering bedding, like mattresses and pillows, to the company’s Bengaluru office. According to the employee, these were arranged for staff members who would be spending nights at the office to make sure the sale runs smoothly. The text on the video read, “Big Billion Days. POV: It’s gonna be a longggg weekend,” while the caption confirmed, “Yes, we do night stays in the office.”

Several people responded to the video saying how this was yet another example of glorifying toxic work culture. Several users worried about the lack of basic facilities like proper hygiene and questioned whether employees were being compensated fairly for the extra hours. However, everyone unanimously thought – this kind of work culture shouldn’t be promoted.

Should we really be normalizing staying overnight at offices, or is it time we stop treating exhaustion as ambition?
