The Indian Men’s Hockey Team made the country immensely proud after they secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. One would think that after getting spotted at an airport, fans would rush to them to click selfies. But that wasn’t quite the case.
India’s midfielder Hardik Singh, in a recent podcast, revealed how the entire team was left embarrassed after people completely ignored them at the airport and instead clicked pictures with Dolly Chaiwala, who was also present at the airport at the same time, reported TOI.
“I saw it with my own eyes, at the airport. Harmanpreet (Singh), I, Mandeep (Singh); there were 5-6 of us. Dolly chaiwala was also there. People were getting themselves clicked with him and did not recognize us. We started looking at each other (feeling awkward),” he said.

For a couple of years, Dolly Chaiwala was pretty popular on social media with his quirky hairstyle, sunglasses and eye-grabbing tea-making antics. However, he became a sensation and his popularity blew out of proportion after Bill Gates uploaded a video of him making chai. It was from then on that brands signed deals with him, he started travelling around the world and roaming around with bodyguards. Today, he is a celebrity.
