Women are not safe anywhere – not inside their homes, not in their workplaces, not in public or in public transport. Ask any woman whether they have had a harrowing sexual harassment experience; it is most likely that she will have one. And it is not necessary that the ones harassing women are young. Even elderly men are capable of sexually harassing women. Here’s an example.
A woman took to Reddit’s r/delhi subreddit to share how an elderly man touched her inappropriately inside Delhi metro. The woman, on the other hand, was trying to offer him her seat because her station was arriving.

“An old man just felt up my ass in the metro on yellow line going towards Vishwa Vidyalaya! The biggest fucking joke is that he looked kinda old and I was literally giving him my seat to sit on as my station was arriving,” she wrote.
She claimed that the elderly man lingered for a while looking at the empty seat and went on to graze his hand over her behind. Shocked by this incident, the woman froze and next, she saw that the man fled the coach and was moving towards the next coach.

“He sort of lingers for a while looking at that empty seat and I instinctively felt something seemed odd for a moment and then when I began moving towards the metro gate he GRAZED his hand over my ass. I swear to god I froze. That’s all. And the moment I realised what had happened and turned around to see his face he was literally fleeing towards the next coach. (THE WOMANS COACH, mind you) that is how I knew that this was no accident. I just felt so disgusted. I was so scared to get off at my station and stayed back in the metro for a good 5 mins till everyone had boarded off. And I could feel that revolting sensation still. It just felt so dirty,” she explained.

Several people online were left disgusted by this incident and couldn’t fathom why an elderly man would do something like this. While some shared going through similar bad experiences, others suggested what one should do in situations like these. Here’s a look at some of the responses:
