Cab Driver Wins Hearts After Respecting New Mom Who Was Breastfeeding Baby During Ride

For new moms, stepping out with a baby is never easy. Something as natural as breastfeeding can become a stressful task when done outside the safety of home. Many mothers often feel judged or unsafe while nursing in public, especially in cabs or autos where rear-view mirrors are sometimes misused to glance at female passengers.

Recently, one new mom’s experience inside a cab turned into a heartwarming story that is now going viral online. Shared on Instagram, the post highlights how a driver’s small but thoughtful gesture made her feel safe and respected while feeding her baby mid-ride.

The young mother, Yashika, wrote:

“I was traveling by cab and my baby needed to be fed. I was carrying a swaddle to cover myself but still I was not comfortable doing it in a cab. Because in India, it’s not uncommon for women to feel uneasy in cabs and autos because some drivers misuse their rear-view mirrors to glance at female passengers.”

Despite her hesitation, she went ahead and covered herself to feed her baby. But what happened next took her completely by surprise.

“Once he latched and I looked up, I observed something that shocked me (in the best way). This driver did something that truly stood out — he adjusted his mirror so the backseat wasn’t even visible to him (can be seen in the video). A simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about his character 👏🏻.”

For a new mom juggling travel and feeding on the go, this was a moment of reassurance.

“In that moment, I wasn’t just another passenger, I was a mother feeling respected and safe in a stranger’s care. And this experience reminded me that kindness and respect don’t always need grand gestures. They’re in the quiet choices we make every day.”

She ended her post by appreciating men who make women feel safer and help normalise dignity in everyday interactions.

“A big shoutout to such men who make women feel safer, and who show that dignity is a universal language 🥰 Here’s to creating a world where such actions become the norm, not the exception 🙌”
