You can have one of the worst days of your life but it still wouldn’t be as bad as making a blunder at work! Imagine sending the wrong mail to your boss which contains embarrassing details, or deleting an extremely important file by mistake and having no backup, or simple farting in an interview with a potential investor. A nightmare, right?

People on the internet have been revealing some of the biggest mistakes they have made in their work-life and some are so bad that my anxiety has kicked in! Have a look:

21 years ago I reviewed a Meat Loaf gig for a newspaper without attending the gig (I was ill/an idiot). An hour after publication the paper called to inform me that the gig had, in fact, been cancelled. I was sacked. The Sun wrote a piece about it. The headline: “MEAT OAF”.

I worked in a UK semiconductor plant. An American colleague faxed details of a two chemical mix. The instructions were simple, 1 bottle of this to 5 of the other. My bottles were of different volumes.

So I did, only I didn’t. I placed another order.
First I knew was when my customer called at 6pm on a Friday, to find out why he was being asked where several pallets of kit should be unloaded…

When I worked in an art gallery I unpacked a load of enormous framed photographs in a panic because my scary boss said he wanted them ready to hang by the time he got there. I used a knife to open the boxes & when he arrived we realised I’d slashed the photographs as well
