Ever since Deepika Padukone appeared on Koffee With Karan and revealed that she casually dated for a while before committing to Ranveer Singh, she has been slut-shamed and harassed left, right and centre. Yes, Deepika has been seen with a bunch of different men over the years. But should that make her a subject of social ridicule? No.
However, students from Banaras Hindu University allegedly organized a skit for a social event wherein they tried to take a funny dig at Deepika Padukone’s dating history. In the video, we see a student dressed up as Mastani from Bajirao Mastani and on the screen behind the student, we see pictures of Deepika with different men being displayed.
We also see other male students dressed as men, who were previously associated with Deepika, parading themselves on the stage. Have a look at the video here:

On the outside, it may seem as though the students are trying to make fun of Deepika’s dating history. But if you think further, you will realise that this perpetuates harmful stereotypes. A woman casually dating and being seen with multiple men is not considered a ‘good woman’. This is downright character assassination and it is disgusting.
Several people online came to Deepika’s support and slammed the students for putting up a skit that is so distasteful. Have a look at some of the reactions here:
