The world today is dominated by Western fashion. Even in India, western clothing and brands are considered ‘cool’. So much so that people from various educational and professional sectors are mostly seen in Western-style clothing. However, traditional Indian attire like kurtas and sarees are symbols of our cultural heritage. They are comfortable, breathable, and elegant.
Hence, Bhavish Aggarwal, founder of Ola, asked the youth of India to embrace traditional clothing, like kurtas.

In a recent podcast with ANI, Bhavish Aggarwal emphasized the need for India to assert its autonomy in technology and data. He critiqued the dominance of Western technology and called for greater self-reliance in artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of data sovereignty, arguing that India should have more control over its own technological developments, reported Moneycontrol.
The conversation took an interesting turn when Aggarwal passionately endorsed the kurta as a key part of the wardrobe for young tech professionals. He praised the comfort and elegance of the kurta, suggesting it helps Indians feel more at ease.

“We can be more comfortable in our skin in a kurta, quite literally. Our skin is our clothing, a kind of fashion sense that is uniquely Indian. In my view, the kurta is a very elegant dress. I believe all Indians, especially the younger tech professionals, should embrace wearing kurtas,” he said.
Here’s a snippet from the podcast:
It’s time to make the kurta cool again. Jab dil se Indian, toh poshak kyun western?
I hope like me, more young minds embrace the Indian attire and the importance of owning our own data. @bhash
