Ah, the housing society WhatsApp group – the ultimate melting pot of civility, drama, and passive-aggressiveness served with a side of over-the-top reactions! In these groups, adults transform into Hindi serial characters. They complain about sounds coming from the upstairs apartment, fellow neighbours walking their dogs downstairs, and why the authorities aren’t more strict about young adults partying inside their homes on Saturday nights. Society WhatsApp groups are like reality shows you never signed up for but can’t stop binge-reading!
One Bengaluru resident gave X users a front-row seat to the drama that unfolded in his society’s WhatsApp group. The screenshots he shared are a hilarious insight into how even the most mundane issues can be turned into something big unnecessarily.

It all began when a resident politely informed how minor drilling work will be taking place inside their home. They apologised for the inconvenience. To this, a concerned neighbour, who was apparently in a meeting, chimed in saying that they should have informed earlier.
And just when you thought this exchange would end there, G 803 delivered another message in the most passive-aggressive way: “Drill work in G 803 got over…total drill time was 95 seconds. Thank you for your patience. We may have another drill session for 4 nails tomorrow which will take 90 seconds more… Will inform in advance.”
Have a look:
This isn’t all. One random person asked another random person to be respectful and not express their “work frustration” in the group!

Responding to the post, several people shared how similar their society WhatsApp groups are, where every day there is a new drama! Have a look:
I have seen WA drama going on for eight months between two flat owners in our society for carrying out wall drilling and indoor renovation work.
The work would continue beyond 8 PM on certain days, the traumatised neighbour was suffering from migrane and could not work from home…

One of the tenant just a floor above (on my head)where i stay wakes up at 4:45 am and starts using traditional method to grind spices using Silbatta .
That daily acts as alarm in this winter season. I feel like waking up

Our society is quite an entertaining one too at times.. in fact almost every society group that I known of is a good drama place from an outsider’s perspective. One maybe more Jamna paar level of drama and other might be Dilli Darlings..

Double standards in my society? We’d fight over 10-min drills, but when a new IT park construction disrupts our peace with 16 hrs of noise pollution (7am-11pm), NO ONE speaks up! I had to call the police after 20 days of inaction by society association and members #NoisePollution

My neighbours have been drilling till 8pm and some days 9, and that too for 12 hours straight

Society WA groups are better entertainment value then Big Boss. I left my previous society 3 years ago, didn’t leave the group because of entertainment value. 🤣 And every week there is such discussions

These are the kind of unscripted, wholesome entertainment sources we need to subscribe to!
