‘Starting To Dislike This Once Great City’ Bengaluru Man Expresses Frustration In Reddit Post

For the longest time, Bengaluru was regarded as one of the best cities to live in. The weather was beautiful, work opportunities were immense, handsome salary packages were offered, and the standard of living was comfortable. It was the perfect blend of urban hustle and natural charm. However, in recent years, Bengaluru has been struggling to keep up with its old glory.

A Bengaluru resident recently took to Reddit’s r/bengaluru to express his frustration over the city’s decline. His post, titled “Why living in Bengaluru has become irritable recently”, struck a chord with many locals who share the same sentiment.

The man, who was born and raised in Basavanagudi and later moved to RR Nagar, reminisced about his fond memories of the city. However, his daily commute to MG Road made him realize how much the city has changed, and not for the better.

One of the biggest issues he highlighted was pollution. He claimed that dust has increased significantly, covering vehicles even when parked indoors. The air quality has worsened, making it difficult for people with respiratory issues. According to him, the lack of greenery and unfinished roadworks exposing sand have contributed to this problem.

He also pointed out how the city’s civic sense has deteriorated. Littering has become rampant, footpaths are treated as garbage dumps, and public spaces are filled with plastic waste and alcohol bottles. Spitting on roads and even at fellow commuters has become a common sight, making the city feel unhygienic and unpleasant.

Another pressing issue he raised was the increasing population density. Public transport, including the metro, is overcrowded at all hours of the day. Even at 7:30 AM, trains are packed, making daily commuting a nightmare. The sheer volume of people in public spaces has made the city feel suffocating and chaotic.

As a middle-class citizen, he felt neglected by the system, claiming that government benefits are directed elsewhere, leaving people like him without support.

“All in all, starting to dislike this once great city,” he wrote.

The question remains – can the city reclaim its former glory, or will it continue to spiral into chaos?
