Bengaluru Househelps Are Slowly Being Replaced By Cooking & Cleaning Robots In Households

Let’s be honest, our lives revolve around the househelp. The moment the maid takes a day or two off, it’s complete chaos. Piles of unwashed dishes, dusty floors, and the dreaded task of chopping onions become unavoidable. It’s like the world comes to a standstill.

But now, a growing number of Bengaluru households are finding a way out of this dependency, thanks to robots. They are using robots for cooking and cleaning and are saying ‘bye-bye’ to maids, reports TOI.

For example, meet the kitchen robot – a sleek, automated device that can chop, saute, fry, knead, steam, and even stir. It comes with pre-programmed recipes, needs just the right ingredients added at the right time, and then does the rest on its own.

Instead of depending on cooks, Bengaluru residents are turning to this smart gadget for everyday cooking. From poha to pav bhaji and rajma rice to biryani, this robot has taken over most recipes. Some users even operate it through an app and don’t have to stand around while it prepares entire meals.

Then come the cleaning bots. These little floor-cleaning robots are becoming common in urban homes. One kind deals with dust and carpets, and navigates its way around furniture and returns to its charging dock like a good boy. The other kind mops the floor using a small water tank and a mopping cloth. Then there are wireless vacuum cleaners, which are very easy to use.

For many, letting go of daily help has been a game-changer. There’s a sense of freedom from depending on someone else’s timings and availability. In the case of thorough cleaning, people book professionals online once every few months.

These devices are also changing the gender dynamics at home. More men are now experimenting with kitchen robots and vacuum cleaners. Many are enjoying the process and even turning into enthusiastic home chefs.

But while cooking and cleaning robots are becoming more popular, this trend could spell bad news for househelps who rely on these jobs for a living. As robots become smarter and more affordable, many domestic workers could run out of jobs in the future.
