The gruesome rape and murder case that happened in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has shaken the entire nation. Innumerable people, irrespective of their gender and profession, have taken to the streets to hold the government accountable for their lack of action when it comes to ensuring the safety of medical professionals inside hospitals, especially women. The incident is also a reminder that even after 12 years of the Delhi gang rape case, not much has changed in our country.
In a shocking incident that was reported from Nagpur, two school-going girls were threatened by an autorickshaw driver who told them that he would do the same to them as what happened to the trainee woman doctor in Kolkata.
According to reports, when the two girls were talking while sitting behind the autorickshaw, the driver told them not to talk loudly. This led to an argument after which the autorickshaw driver made the threat to the two girls.
Instead of getting scared and sitting quietly, the two girls told the driver to stop the autorickshaw, got out of the vehicle, pulled him out and began beating him. Seeing the scuffle, passersby came to them and after learning about what had happened, they started beating the driver too.
A video of the incident has gone viral, where we can see that one of the school girls is being consoled by another woman who tells her not to cry and be scared. On the other end, the autorickshaw driver is seen sitting on the floor with his palms joined, asking for forgiveness, while locals beat him. The schoolgirl also goes forward and hits him.
