With the advent of IG-TV videos, Facebook, WhatsApp and a myriad of other applications, you’ve got to admit that phones are BAE today. So it can be sheer torture to even fathom living like the Amish and banishing cell phones. What if you miss out on the latest memes! Without smartphones, who shall you tag or text all day? While we don’t have to face this moral quandary anytime soon; celebrated playback singer Asha Bhosle wishes we did.
She recently tweeted a picture of a group of people she was traveling with. The caption read-
“Bagdogra to Kolkata… Such good company but still, no one to talk to. Thank you Alexander Graham Bell.”
The 85-year-old music legend clearly wishes her fellow travelers (singers Sudesh Bhosle and Siddhant Bhosle among others) were less engrossed in their phone screens. Her tweet indeed spells out the harsh reality of today where people are more invested in their phones than interested in talking to people around them.

Twitterati found that the picture perfectly depicted FOMO (fear of missing out)! Here’s how they reacted-
This is such a bitter truth of today Asha ji and really very sad.
Very truly said …so many people around yet no one to talk to…!!!!
I would go crazyyy and completely nuts if I even get a glimpse of you in my life ????— Ratna EF❤ (@StLouisgirl123) January 13, 2019
Namaste. Seeing such scenario, I am forced to endorse the views as dramatized in 2.O of Rajinikant.

A few sought to nitpick and clear the air about who invented smartphones-
Haha…true…But it should be like thanking Motorola who invented wireless phones called mobile phones. Graham Bell invented wired one, that was to help people. But yes #smartphone life are different than real one, today we need Real natural life. Thank you for letting us know.

Mobile phone was invented by Martin Cooper on 3rd of April 1973. Alexander Graham Bell invented the TELEPHONE…THE ONES WE USE AS OUR LANDLINES.!!!

Many others including ace Jitesh Pillai commented that Bhosle’s company was too good to miss!
For me only ashaai. Who would give up the joy of hearing ur anecdotes of the 50s and 60s especially with kishored, rafisaab, pancham, didimaushi ??

While others found her saga too relatable for words!

This is everyday scene in any house party or when we all relatives are together! Even parents, who used to detest mobile phones a few years back are now engaged more in it!

Like it or not, we do seem to be missing out on the pleasures of human interaction with social media addiction. Perhaps we need new-age rehabs to be tweaked to offer us a de-addiction program for phones and a social-detox?
