Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem scripted history for his country after he became the first Pakistani athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. He defeated India’s Neeraj Chopra by an impressive margin at the 2024 Paris Olympics in Javelin Throw.

Winning an Olympic gold medal brings many benefits beyond just the cash prize from the Olympics itself. Athletes are often rewarded by their home countries with additional money, awards, and sometimes even houses or land. These winners also attract attention from big brands, who offer them ambassadorship deals, allowing them to promote products and earn even more money.

For example, when Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian government and various state governments awarded him with significant cash prizes, and he was also given a plot of land in Haryana. Additionally, the Indian Army, where Neeraj serves, promoted him to a higher rank. Besides these, he was gifted luxury cars and received free flights for a year from airlines. Several brands approached him for endorsement deals, which added to his fame and financial success.
However, a Pakistani-American businessman named Ali Sheikhani announced that he would be giving a brand new Suzuki Alto to Arshad Nadeem for his achievement at the Olympics.

This news didn’t sit well with several people online who slammed the businessman for offering such a “cheap” gift to the Olympics champion. Here’s what they had to say:
Hamare yaha gharpe baithe nalle berozgar bhi Alto na le gift me ?
