Whenever Aishwarya Rai Bachchan makes an appearance at the MET Gala, Cannes Film Festival or any other major fashion event, she creates a moment. She always has, be it arriving for the MET wearing a gorgeous Cinderella-like gown or the Cannes in an aluminium dress with a giant hood. She serves every single time.
But the thing with older actors like her and Kareena Kapoor Khan is that people are unforgiving of their ageing. When it comes to them, suddenly people forget that ageing is a natural process and one cannot look 20 when they are 50. The wrinkles are going to show. The skin is going to sag. The body might get bigger or smaller.
Does that mean that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is any less remarkable? Definitely not.

Aishwarya recently walked the ramp at Paris Fashion Week and when I say she owned the walk, I mean it.
She is still glamorous. She still manages to grab all the eyeballs in the room. She is still the “mother” and the “queen” (like the kids say nowadays).
Here’s a video of her walking the ramp:

That dress. That walk. That flying kiss. Those beautiful eyes.
As usual, there were multiple comments and posts trolling her. People took digs at her weight, and her ageing face and expressed how she isn’t as beautiful as before. But we won’t be sharing all that. What we want to share are few of the many supportive comments that fans poured on social media.
See this… Aishwarya owned the fact that she has gained weight and killing it in the ramp… she is 50 years old, no one should expect her to look like how she looked in dhoom… I am soo glad her team didn't try to hide anything and finally I am loving her hair?? https://t.co/N9cDizEJYn

Before we make any remarks about Aishwarya Rai’s appearance we must realize that She’s 50, her body must be going through a lot of changes

Most female actors working in the entertainment industry are given an invisible expiry date. They are written off after they reach a certain age. They are no longer the leading heroines, show-stoppers and brand ambassadors for fashion and beauty brands. This is because ‘beauty’, ‘glamour’ and ‘attraction’ are largely associated with ‘youth’. It is the young who are considered beautiful and attractive, not a woman in her 50s.
This is why the presence of an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a Kareena Kapoor Khan, a Neena Gupta and a Zeenat Aman is so important.
It is important for them to continue walking the ramp, to be the face of beauty and fashion brands, to appear in fashion magazines and to be the leading ladies in commercial cinema. They serve as a reminder that the desirability of a woman does not expire after a certain age. That the 50s, 60s, 70s and further can be ‘sexy’.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with the mind and body of a middle-aged woman is here to stay. The ramp is where she belongs.
