A woman in Ahmedabad named Archana Patil has taken it upon herself to take care of her family financially after her husband fell ill. The husband used to work as a cab driver and had bought a car with the help of a loan. Due to his health, he wasn’t able to drive anymore. But bills needed to be paid. So Archana decided to step up.
Within 6 months she learnt how to drive, passed the driving exam, got a license and started working as a cab driver for Ola. She is not just good at her job; she is excellent. A person named Ojas Desai, who was recently a passenger in her cab, shared her story on Facebook.

Ojas was on his way to the railway station and he realized how effortlessly the woman drove the vehicle.
“To drive to Ahmedabad Railway Station through old city and to negotiate through heavy and indicplined traffic is a task always. I was more than impressed. After all, this was my first instance of encountering a female driver in Ola or Uber. In my city Surat, I have seen female auto drivers but, I never had used services of a female driver in Ola or Uber,” he wrote.
He further revealed that earlier, Archana didn’t even know how to ride a cycle. Yet, she was able to conquer her fears and learn how to drive. However, Ojas expressed that he didn’t share her story to make her seem like a strong woman who broke gender stereotypes but to admire her spirit and how she was able to overcome a bad situation.
“I don’t wish to highlight this as an example of women power or as something as a proof of ‘changing society’. I met a spirited soul today who didn’t consider bad fortune as defeat,” he wrote.
