Shikha Malhotra, a 26-year-old actress who has worked in films like ‘Fan’ and ‘Kaanchli’, has been working as a frontline nurse with no salary in Mumbai’s Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Municipal Hospital for the past 6 months.
According to The Tribune, Shikha has a degree in nursing from Delhi’s Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital and is a registered nurse. She decided to pause her work as an actress and play a role in helping Mumbai battle the virus.
However, recently, Shikha tested positive for the coronavirus and took to Instagram to share the news. She said that her post is for those who have not been taking the pandemic seriously and asked them to take every necessary precaution there is. She has also been having trouble breathing.
“Tested positive. Admitted. Now missing oxygen. Post for those who say corona is nothing. Serving continuously for the past 6 months with your best wishes and prayers. All your blessings have kept me safe in this battlefield and I am sure that I will get well soon,” she wrote on Instagram.
