There used to be a time in India when employees would come to the office early in the morning and leave very late at night. This was seen as a sign of dedication and hard work. However, today, with the growing awareness about the importance of work-life balance, people are changing their habits. Now, many employees stick to their official work hours and make it a point to leave the office on time.
But even today, there are many who do not see this as a habit worth boasting about and criticize those who are trying to live a balanced life. For example, a man named Sagar, the founder of a company named Rupeeting, took to X to share a picture of a co-working space which was empty at 6.30 PM.
“There was a time when I’d have to reach office at 7am and leave at 2am for me to be the first to reach and last to leave. This is a co-working space in Bangalore at 6:30pm. Shame,” he wrote.

However, people discouraged his criticism and highlighted how there has been a major shift in people’s mentality when it comes to work hours in the past couple of years. They claimed that there should be no “shame” attached to leaving for home at the end of work hours. After all, working efficiently is better than working inefficiently for long hours.
Have a look at some of the responses here:
There was a time when I’d reach at 9 but leave at 2-3-4am depending on deliverables.
I decided to run my own firm and make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone working with me.

Not shame….this is right….employees do have a life after 6pm….when companies can hire n fire at will why anyone should be stretching beyond limits

Did not get it. R u sad about what u had to do or r u jealous of what is happening. Seems they r satisfied to be doing whatever and might be enuf for them. It can be any of the several reasons. Everyone works as per their need. Ur timing was ur need. This timing is thr need.

What did you expect, GOLD MEDAL? Sorry but no, people are smart these days. More time doesn’t mean more output. Putting concentrated 8 hrs is very productive. Rest of the time is for family and for ownself.
I would love to see a company like Tesla, SpaceX if one is leaving at…— Ankit Bahuguna (@ankitbahuguna84) June 19, 2024
Nowadays people are more smart…
They don’t need 17 hrs of work to do the job done…17hrs work done in 9 hrs….
Need upgradation , otherwise even 17 hrs wouldn’t be enough.

Used to be. But may be resources are better now and our younger generation is smarter than us and they don’t need to spend time there.

Yeah. The traffic in Bengaluru is alarming already with every person driving a SUV and big sized cars blocking the road, streets. So relax, and Dont have to feel shame or worry about it as those old days are returning slowly.

Personal time and well-being are just as important as professional success. Don’t you think?
