This summer, many parts of the country are feeling the heat more than usual. Bengaluru, usually known for its pleasant climate, is seeing temperatures soar to 40 degrees Celsius for the first time in years. Meanwhile, people in Pondicherry are also feeling the heat, and it’s got them worried.
To tackle this scorching weather, government officials in Pondicherry have come up with a clever solution. They’ve set up what they call ‘green screens’ at traffic signals.
These screens are basically green nets stretched across the road, providing shade to people waiting at the signals. This way, those on bikes, scooters, or rickshaws can avoid getting roasted by the harsh sun rays while they wait. It’s a small but thoughtful way to beat the heat and keep people comfortable during their commute.
